A British father accused of murdering his wife and two daughters is expected back in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Thursday as extradition proceedings continue.
Ndodana Tshuma was arrested in Johannesburg last month after leaving the United Kingdom.
He is wanted by British authorities in connection with the deaths of his wife and two daughters at their home in Bedfordshire.
Tshuma wanted in the UK
Tshuma left Britain through Heathrow Airport two days before the bodies were discovered.
The three victims died from blunt force trauma and were later buried in Zimbabwe.
British authorities want Tshuma returned to the UK to face proceedings linked to the killings.
His case in South Africa is therefore focused partly on the extradition process.
Separate firearm charge in South Africa
Tshuma is also facing a separate charge in South Africa for allegedly possessing an unlicensed firearm.
The State previously told the court that it believed he intended to use the firearm to take his own life.
At an earlier appearance, Tshuma’s lawyer, Chrispen Machingura, confirmed that his client would not apply for bail.
Tshuma has therefore remained in custody while the case moves forward.
The State previously told the Johannesburg Magistrates Court that it had received preliminary extradition documents from the United Kingdom.
However, prosecutors were still waiting for the complete extradition request.
The prosecution also undertook to provide the defence with the extradition documents already in its possession.
Thursday’s appearance is expected to deal with the next stage of the proceedings as authorities work through the formal extradition process.
Tshuma remains wanted in Britain in connection with the deaths of his wife and two daughters.
No finding has yet been made against him in relation to the murder allegations, and the extradition process remains before the South African courts.
