The 27-year-old clinical audiologist from Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, recently secured her place directly in the global Top 40 after winning the prestigious Miss World Africa Head-to-Head Challenge. With her blend of academic brilliance, cultural pride, and targeted advocacy, Hombir is proving that she is far more than a pageant contestant; she is a purpose-driven leader carrying Mzansi’s hopes onto the world stage.

A multifaceted heritage and clinical mind

Hombir’s story is rooted in the rich tapestry of South African diversity, drawing from her Swati, Zulu, and German heritage.

Professionally, she works as a clinical audiologist, a background that fundamentally shapes her approach to advocacy. Her day-to-day work in healthcare has given her firsthand insight into the structural challenges facing local communities, particularly regarding accessibility, health education, and specialised care.

Addressing her pride in representing the country on the international stage, Hombir shared with SABC News:

“My parents are South African, and I’m South African, so the very heartbeat of our nation is what I carry with me. The pride of our nation is what I’ll represent on the Miss World stage. The same level of care for our people is what they will be able to see throughout my journey, and people should really trust that my love for our country extends far beyond this title.”

Beauty with a purpose: Tackling health taboos

At the core of Hombir’s Miss World journey is her commitment to social entrepreneurship and health awareness. Her Beauty With a Purpose project focuses on breaking down persistent societal taboos surrounding women’s reproductive health, with a specific focus on conditions like endometriosis and PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), alongside broader hearing health awareness.

By leveraging her medical background, Hombir provides actionable, empathetic health education, helping young women across South Africa gain early diagnoses and proper support networks.
