VISA CHAOS! Bafana Bafana World Cup departure postponed after administrative bungle

South Africa’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign has been hit by a massive off-the-pitch scandal before the team has even left.

SABC News reports that Bafana Bafana have been forced to postpone their highly anticipated departure for Mexico due to a shocking, last-minute visa crisis.

The national team was officially scheduled to jet out of OR Tambo International Airport on a luxury chartered flight early on Sunday morning. However, it has emerged that the entire travel itinerary had to be abruptly scrapped because several key players in Hugo Broos’ final 26-man squad have not yet been issued their necessary travel visas.

Worse still for football fans demanding elite professionalism, the root cause of the delay is reportedly a massive administrative bungle from the organising authorities.

This logistical nightmare could not have come at a worse time for Bafana Bafana’s technical staff. Hugo Broos’ master plan relied heavily on early acclimation to the high altitudes of North America.

The team is scheduled to play a crucial warm-up match against Jamaica on Mexican soil to fine-tune their tactics. Every day spent grounded in Johannesburg severely eats into their preparation time before they face the ultimate test: taking on the World Cup co-hosts, Mexico, in the explosive opening match of the global tournament on 11 June.

With the clock ticking down to the biggest tournament on the planet, all eyes are now on SAFA’s administrative office to see how quickly they can untangle this red-tape disaster and get the nation’s heroes on a plane.
