Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has sparked fresh transfer speculation after arriving in Zimbabwe ahead of a key Premier Soccer League clash in Harare.

Reports from Zimbabwe indicate that Motaung is set to attend Sunday’s match between Scottland FC and CAPS United, one of the most anticipated fixtures on the local football calendar.

His presence has fuelled suggestions that Amakhosi could be casting their net wider in search of new talent ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Chiefs have yet to comment on the purpose of Motaung’s visit, but the timing has raised eyebrows as the Soweto giants continue to reshape their squad.

Bobby Motaung attends Harare showdown

According to reports from Zimbabwe, Motaung arrived in Harare this week and is expected to watch the clash between Scottland FC and CAPS United.

On Friday, Motaung met with Scottland FC president Pedzai ‘Scott’ Sakupwanya.

The fixture is expected to attract significant attention from football stakeholders across the region, with several players from both teams enjoying strong seasons in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League.

Motaung’s visit comes at a time when Chiefs are evaluating their squad and exploring options to strengthen key areas ahead of the new campaign.

Zimbabwe remains a fertile market for PSL clubs

South African clubs have a long history of recruiting players from Zimbabwe, with many going on to become fan favourites in the PSL.

Former Chiefs captain Willard Katsande established himself as a club legend during his time at Naturena, while Knowledge Musona also made a lasting impression before moving abroad.

Other Zimbabwean stars such as Tinashe Nengomasha, Esrom Nyandoro and Khama Billiat built successful careers in South African football, highlighting the quality of talent available across the Limpopo River.

The success of those players has encouraged PSL clubs to keep a close eye on developments in Zimbabwean football.

Could Motaung be scouting for Kaizer Chiefs?

While there is no confirmation that Chiefs are targeting any specific player, Motaung’s visit has naturally led to speculation among supporters.

Amakhosi remain linked with several potential signings as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours next season.

If the club is indeed scouting in Zimbabwe, it would not be the first time Chiefs have turned to the neighbouring country in search of talent.

For now, fans will have to wait for an official explanation from the club.

However, Motaung’s appearance in Harare has certainly added another intriguing layer to Chiefs’ off-season plans.

Do you think Kaizer Chiefs should look to Zimbabwe for their next signing?
