Orlando Pirates plot double transfer swoop

Orlando Pirates could land two brand new defenders when the next transfer window opens up. Will they be champions?

Orlando Pirates target two new stars

Via KickOff, Orlando Pirates have reached out to Polokwane City to finalise a deal with Thabang Matuludi. It’s not the first time the Buccaneers have attempted to lure the 27-year-old defender over, after their efforts were foiled last season. Matuludi has two caps for Bafana and has an outside shot of making their final 2026 World Cup squad.

“Negotiations are now at an advanced stage. Matuludi is expected to be a Pirates player next season,” said a source.

Pirates are also understood to be interested in Golden Arrows left-sider Siyanda Ndlovu. He can operate in midfield and defence.

Mofokeng can be a star at the World Cup 2026

Meanwhile, 21-year-old winger-cum playmaker Rele Mofokeng is expected to play a central role for Bafana Bafana at the World Cup in the Americas. Not a day goes by that publications aren’t speculating as to where he might be playing his club football next season. If he shines in the Americas during the 2026 World Cup, there could be some big-name suitors. Mofokeng has 10 goals and eight assists from 26 league appearances this term. Would now be a good time to sell to a wealthy suitor in Europe?
