𝗚𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗔, 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗨𝗦 𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗟 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗨𝗦 𝗝𝗢𝗕𝗦 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗪𝗔𝗬 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗚𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗜𝗔𝗡 𝗡𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘𝗦

Ghana and the City of Columbus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create legal employment pathways for qualified Ghanaian nurses in Ohio.

The agreement establishes the Ghana-Columbus Nursing Partnership Programme and aims to strengthen nursing education, skills transfer and workforce development while creating employment opportunities for Ghanaian-trained nurses.

Ghana’s Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, said the partnership goes beyond recruitment and must protect the rights, welfare and professional interests of Ghanaian health workers.

The agreement does not guarantee jobs or US visas. Nurses will still have to meet professional licensing, recruitment and immigration requirements.

The initiative builds on the existing sister-city relationship between Columbus and the Greater Accra Region and could provide Ghanaian nurses with a more structured route into the US healthcare sector.
