Zwane: Why Chiefs is taking longer to gel…

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane insists that the club made good signings and their squad has good players but explained why it might take longer for his troops to gel and understand his system.

This comes after a cry from the Khosi Nation saying the team doesn’t have good enough players.

Amakhosi have been shaky since the start of the season, struggling to grind the results. They have played eight games in all competitions.

And Zwane is aware of his team’s inconsistency and bumpy start. What gives him hope is that the team is still work under progress.

The Soweto giants brought in many new players during the window after parting with others to build a new younger squad for Zwane.

ZWANE REVEALS WHAT HE IS LOOKING FOR

“We got good and quality players there is no doubt about it and have good signings, these players are young most of them,” Zwane told the media.

“We looking for chemistry, technical understanding and way of playing.

“It’s going to take some time [to gel] because they come from different backgrounds, different challenges and different environments.

“We want to help them settle rather than putting them under pressure. As technical staff we are here to play that father-figure role,” he added.

Zwane believes that when the players [both new and old] settle in well in the club system, right combinations will start surfacing leading to positive results.

“We would help them settle in our structure in getting the right combinations. It’s going to be fluctuating because we building something here.

“It might take some time, but we’re aware that at the same time we need to grind the results,” Zwane concluded.

The Soweto giants’ failure in grinding results leaves then with only two victories, two draws and three defeats so far this season.

On Saturday night, Zwane and his troops will be aiming to get back to winning ways in the DStv Premiership after three-game winless run. They host a rejuvanated Supersport United side who have won their last three games.

Kickoff at FNB Stadium is at 8pm.
