Zwane – What Saile Adds To Chiefs Attack

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has spelled out the qualities that Christian Saile Basomboli possesses and adds to his side’s attack.

Chiefs initially bid their time in signing the Congolese striker after he underwent assessment during the FIFA World Cup break.

This was the same route Chiefs took with Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana at the beginning of the season when he went through strict assessment with the club before they signed him. However, the Burundian international has quickly adjusted to life at Naturena, scoring seven goals in the league, one behind top goal scorer Peter Shalulile.

It was also the case with Saile, who they finally brought on board on a three-and-a-half year deal from Zambian side Nchanga Rangers this week.

“When you look at Christian, first you look at the age and he is 22,” said Zwane, meaning if Saile can be found short in the game aspect the club still have sufficient time to correct that.

“Secondly, the aggression, composure inside the box and obviously the league he is coming from and the league that he is now are completely different in terms of the pressure.

“The team that he has joined now is one where results are expected week in and week out. He is expected to score when the time comes and starts playing.”

Zwane previously said this is going to be approach going forward to avoid disappointments of the past after signings such as Lazalous Kambole, Anthony Akumu, James Kotei, Kearyan Baccus, Mitchelle Katsvairo, Edmore Chirambadare, Gustavo Paez, Sula Matovu all failed to live up to expectations at Chiefs.

Zwane said they needed to monitor his communication level because Congolese mostly speak French, meaning he will need a translator to relay the information for him to understand.

“We profiled the player obviously and as I said when we brought him here, it was because we wanted to have a closer look to assess him,” said Zwane of Saile.

“It was very, very key for us to do that for the things that we were looking at, how is he going to adapt.

“Remember he’s from Congo, and today he speaks French. The things you look at first are there any challenges or language barriers and you would try to avoid such things.

“But so far so good to be quite honest, he looks so disciplined. But players like these ones are very competitive, you see passion in them, you see a lot of love which is very key.”

The game against Royal AM at Peter Mokaba Stadium might come too soon for Saile to have his documents issued.
