Zwane Wary Of ‘Very, Very Difficult’ AmaZulu

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane shared his thoughts on drawing AmaZulu in the MTN8 semi-finals, warning they are a “very, very difficult” opponent.

Amakhosi will face Usuthu in the two-legged semi-final in October after beating Stellenbosch FC on 4-3 penalties to book their last-four ticket.

Chiefs avoided facing defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns as well as Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates, but Zwane insisted AmaZulu are a tough opponent, in particular after the start they’ve had to 2022/23.

“We are playing against AmaZulu. We all know it won’t be an easy one. They’ve been doing well at the present moment,” he told the club’s media team.

“They’ve been winning their league games and they’re also through to the semi-finals where they are playing against us. They’ve assembled a very good squad with a good coach and technical stuff.

“It is going to be a two-legged [tie] that will be very, very difficult. There are no easy games. It is a knockout competition, so it depends on how we are going to approach them home and away, and also how they are going to respond.

“Because firstly we are playing them in a league game this coming weekend. We are looking forward to the game and we hope that we will do well and go through to the final.”

Chiefs will already face Usuthu at FNB Stadium in the DStv Premiership on Saturday.

The KZN side comes into this fixture with just one loss this season so far, while the Amakhosi have already lost thrice and need a win to not lose their grasp on the top half of the log.
