Zwane Showers Caleb & Sekgota With Praise

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has been left impressed by the all round play by his big striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and the form of Kgaogelo Sekgota.

Bimenyimana made history in the PSL, scoring three penalties as Chiefs beat Stellenbosch FC 3-1 at DHL Stadium on Sunday.

In doing so, he became the first player in the PSL to score three penalties in one DStv Premiership game as Amakhosi recorded their third league win on the bounce to move fourth on the DStv Premiership table with 17 points after 10 matches – much to the excitement of his coach, who praised the striker’s overall abilities.

“With Caleb, you must have seen – he simplifies things,” said Zwane after the game.

“He keeps it simple as a striker. He just wants to play the ball out wide, he wants to protect the ball, he wants to play those one-twos, and he is also skilful. He’s not just a tall boy, he’s quick for his structure and he’s got that balance as well.

“We have always wanted a player that can release players like Ashley du Preez. You must have seen the runs that he made, he freed Ash so that the ball carrier at that time must be able to pick one between the two including Kgaogelo Sekgota and that’s why Ash was, I think twice, was free because Caleb would attract [defenders] and that is the strength that he has. He’s clever on the ball.

“He’s not just a striker that will rely on high ball, but we are a team that penetrate in the middle and use width to create goal scoring opportunities.”

Zwane also showered Sekgota with praise, as he has been one player who has been outstanding under the former Chiefs star winger.

“Sekgota has been tremendous and I’m so happy for him and very proud of him,” Zwane, who himself was a direct winger just like KG during his playing days, added.

“Why is he improving, he’s coachable, he’s one player that wants to learn new things, and ask the coach ‘I’m doing the right things or not?’

“These are the type of players that you just have to feed information slowly because if you overload them with information, then he might end up being confused. But as you can see in his game he’s improving every game and he’s one of our key players now.”

With Bimenyimana scoring goals for Chiefs, he has joined Peter Shalulile on the top of the goal scoring charts, as they both are now levelled on six goals apiece.
