Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has reacted to his side’s 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United, saying the hosts early goal came against the run of play.
Amakhosi found themselves trailing inside four minutes, and were not able to break a resilient Sekhukhune defense.
After the home side completed the double over Zwane’s men, the coach lamented his side’s laps of concentration, which allowed Sammy Seabi to score after four minutes.
“I think we started off well,” he told SuperSport TV.
“It looked like they’re going to get a goal before we score. Against the run of play we conceded and from there we’re chasing the game.
“I still believed we were going to equalise but I don’t think we were sharp enough in that final third entry. Our box entries today were not better than in the previous games.
“It’s one of those where we chasing the game, they defended very well as well. They did not give us that space behind and in the middle. So congrats to them.”
Zwane also explained why he opted to play with both his main strikers Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Christian Saile in the last 30 minutes.
“Look we had to take a gamble to throw in more forwards and obviously put them under pressure. It nearly worked, because we knew they were just pumping the ball and then play from the second ball.
“The only thing that we were supposed to do is to get the ball into the right areas, where we can hurt them.
“At some point we kept the ball for too long at too long at the back, looking for options, yet there were players free at some point. It’s a case of decision-making and we need to improve on that.
“We need to do better in terms of creating chances and converting them.”
