Zwane – Ngezana Is A Top Player

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane was full of praise for Siyabonga Ngezana after his return to the starting XI for the first time since August.

Ngezana, 24, started Chiefs’ first three games of the season but dropped out of the line-up following a costly mistake in the 4-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

He did return against Cape Town City on match day five but had not featured during the last four DStv Premiership games, until Zitha Kwinika was suspended for the game against Stellenbosch FC.

After the 3-1 win, Zwane praised the defender, for his qualities and a solid 90 minute-performance.

“Siya is a top player for me, he’s a top player,” Zwane told reporters.

“Yes, football is a game of mistakes and unfortunately he made a mistake in category A game against Sundowns and after that game he was not himself, but we had to work on him, we had to build him.

“He’s a top player, there is no doubt about it. That’s why today, when you look at the character he showed today, he gave us that balance, he is a fighter, he’s good in 1v1 situations, good header of the ball.

“He was solid today and I’m proud of him, I’m also happy to see him so solid for the entire 90 minutes.”

Ngezana, who has come through the club’s youth ranks, has made 106 appearances for the Glamour Boys overall during his career so far.

The 3-1 victory over Stellenbosch saw Chiefs climb into fourth place on the log, and they return to action on saturday when they will host Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
