Zwane Gives Khune Injury Update

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has given a first injury update of Itumeleng Khune, saying it looks better than first feared.

Khune, 35, had to be substituted in the first half of Chiefs’ 3-1 comeback-win over Stellenbosch FC on Sunday after picking up a groin injury.

However, Zwane revealed that Khune himself and the team doctor were positive the club’s skipper will not be sidelined for too long.

“I thought he has maybe snapped his groin, but when I had a chat with him he said no, even the physio and the team doctor told me it’s not bad,” he said when asked by iDiski Times about Khune.

“We don’t know whether he’s going to be out for the next game in terms of availability or the Cup game in Durban.

“We’ll see, we will monitor him.”

Khune only regained his No.1 spot at Amakhosi after a fine performance in the MTN8 quart-final against Stellenbosch, starting the last five DStv Premiership games since.

Chiefs picked up 11 of a potential 15 points in those games and went unbeaten, but they will now miss their captain for at least a game or two.
