Zwane Discusses His Job Security Ahead Of Soweto Derby

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has insisted he is not worried about his Amakhosi future ahead of the the Soweto Derby and only focussed on helping his players to be as best prepared as possible for the match.

Zwane has come under pressure at Chiefs, after his side have only picked up one win in the DStv Premiership in 2023, while losing four league games.

When only taking games of 2023 into consideration, Chiefs actually sit at the bottom of the log with just four points from six matches. However, overall they only sit three points behind their Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates and five behind second-placed SuperSport United.

A win in the derby would take some of the mounting pressure of Zwane, who received a public backing from Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. earlier in the week after parts of the club’s fans chanted “Arthur must go” following their 3-2 loss to Golden Arrows.

Zwane, though, insisted he is not focussed on the noise around his position and only preparing his team for Saturday’s derby at FNB Stadium

“As far as I know I’m the head coach of Kaizer Chiefs,” he said.

“I’ve always been saying this, the club has always had a plan. We’ve got a plan and it doesn’t matter. As much as we know we need three points, we want to win every game.

“So I’m not going into this game, worried about my job or worried about many other things.

“The focus is on playing this game and make that the players apply themselves correctly and I’m there for them as the head coach of the club.”

Chiefs could compete their second double over Pirates after winning the four last league clashes with their Soweto rivals.
