Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has confirmed the absences of three Amakhosi players ahead of their DStv Premiership opening encounter against Royal AM.
The Glamour Boys will travel to Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday, trying to forget their results from 2021/22 against the hosts.
‘Thwihli Thwahla’ has become somewhat of Amakhosi’s worst nightmare after doing double over them last season, beating them 4-1 at FNB Stadium before winning the return leg 1-0 at home.
Zwane will be keen on collecting a different result this time around in what will be his first official game as head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, but he’ll have to make due without the suspended Phathutshedzo Nange, while S’fiso Hlanti and Sibusiso Mabiliso are not fully fit.
“I’ve got a very good headache, a positive headache, if I may put it that way,” he told journalists during the club’s media day.

“Because we are selecting from players that are willing, showing a lot of commitment to go out there and do their best. Except for a few injuries and I think one suspension which is Nange, who is not going to be available for the game.
“Hlanti who’s still not 100%, as you know he’s coming from a very long lay off and Mabiliso, who’s got a thigh problem.
“Those are the only players that are not gonna be available for the game. We anticipate a great game, we are hoping to grind the result and we want to set the tone as well.”
