Zwane Admits Folz Appointment Changes Things

AmaZulu appointing Romain Folz to replace Brandon Truter changes the approach for Kaizer Chiefs, head coach Arthur Zwane admitted.

The 32-year-old Frenchman has yet to win a game in South African football after seven matches with Marumo Gallants and Usuthu respectively but has earned plaudits from plenty of coaches in the league.

His tactical system focuses on playing on the front foot and a possession-based system and with Truter preferring a counter-attacking style of play, Chiefs will have to be wary, according to Zwane.

“I watched them against Pirates, I also watched them [against Martizburg], obviously their approach [under Folz] is different than the previous coach [Truter] and they are more dangerous now, they are using all these offensive players very well,” he said ahead of the game.

“The chances they created against Orlando Pirates and on Wednesday night, you see a lot of difference and a dangerous team going forward.

“So we’ll have to be a bit cautious and tighten our screws because of late we’ve been letting in goals very cheaply but it’s something we’ll obviously work on.”

Amakhosi face off against Usuthu on Sunday afternoon at the Moses Mabhida Stadium (15h30) with the aggregate at 1-1 from the first leg that was played out at FNB Stadium.
