Zungu Released By Richards Bay

Richards Bay have terminated the loan of Nkanyiso Zungu as he returns back to Orlando Pirates.

Zungu joined Natal Richboyz at the beginning of the season from Pirates on loan. The loan agreement was that he will return to the Buccaneers at the end of the 2022/23 season.

On Tuesday evening Ukhozi FM broke the news he will be dismissed from the club, who refused to comment ‘to protect his career’.

Upon further investigation by this website, a close source to the club stated Zungu was released two weeks ago by the KwaZulu Natal outfit after he had off-the-field issues.

The matter started after the Nedbank Cup last 32 clash against Mamelodi Sundowns where Natal Richboyz lost 3-2.

“The chairman decided to release him two weeks ago, Zungu had off-the-field problems. But the situation became worse after the Nedbank Cup last 32 lost against Sundowns,” the source within the club told iDiski Times.

“Club image is very important, it had to be protected. I just hope he has learned his lesson.”

Zungu scored in the loss against Sundowns but since the incident, he has never returned to the matchday squad since.

It is not clear whether Pirates will keep the left-footed midfielder for the upcoming season.
