According to the Jacob Zuma Foundation, the former president will file a private lawsuit against Advocate Billy Downer for his role in his trial.
Zuma’s legal team has been focusing on failed legal challenges against Downer, whom he said would be biased against him if permitted to continue as chief prosecutor in the case.

Despite his pursuit of private prosecution, Manyi told reporters at a press conference that Zuma would appear in court on Monday.
The Jacob Zuma Foundation was briefing the media ahead of the former president’s trial in the Pietermaritzburg High Court, which is set to begin on Monday.
Zuma and Thales, a French arms company, are accused of fraud, racketeering, and money laundering in connection with the multibillion-rand arms contract.

Zuma’s attempts to have Downer removed from the case were denied by the Supreme Court of Appeal last month. The Jacob Zuma Foundation indicated at the time that it will seek the president of the Supreme Court for clarification on the judgement, which it described as “vague.”
