Zuma Breaks Silence On Chiefs Return

Kaizer Chiefs winger Dumisani Zuma has revealed he felt a little bit nervous ahead of his first match for Amakhosi this season.

The 24-year-old came off the bench in Chiefs’ 1-0 defeat at Stellenbosch on Saturday, making his first appearance in 2021/22.

Zuma missed the first part of the season due to injury and was later suspended by the club after being caught drunk-driving by police.

However, earlier this year he returned to the squad and finally made his long-awaited return to the pitch at Dannie Craven stadium.

“It was a great feeling to be back on the pitch again,” he told the club’s website.

“I haven’t been playing for the past 10 months and I felt the nerves. I was scared a bit, it’s been long since I played, but after 10 minutes in the game everything felt fine.

“The first ball I received I was thinking to play it safe and not make mistakes, but after a few minutes I was comfortable and could be the Zuma people know.”

Zuma also insisted that his Chiefs side will try to get back to winning ways when they will face Arrows in Durban on Wednesday.

“We wanted to win the game, the team played well, but we will take that performance to the next game and I am confident we will win it,” he added.

“The preparations have gone well. Golden Arrows beat us in Johannesburg and we are going to Durban for a win.

“But we know Golden Arrows like to drop back us and catch us on the break. It’s going to be a tough game, but we are ready for it.”

Overall Zuma has scored 12 goals and assisted 11 more since joining Amakhosi from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2017.
