With the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs set to commence on Tuesday, Zizwe United’s appeal case has been uploaded into the case line.

As a result, it suspends the Honourable Mr V Nieuwenhuizen AJ’s ruling made on Monday at the Gauteng High Court.

The judge had set aside the arbitration ruling in favour of Young Bafana. But the national playoffs are set to go ahead as planned by SAFA.

This comes after Young Bafana appealed the arbitration ruled in favour of Zizwe United on 31 May 2023. The matter was heard at the SAFA House.

Following the SAFA arbitration ruling five days ago, Young Bafana made it clear that they will not be backing down as the club is set to seek legal advice over the arbitration outcome.

ZIZWE UNITED APPEAL CASE UPLOADED INTO CASE-LINE

“Therefore, the provisions of Rule 18 [1] of Superior Courts Act 10 of 2013 becomes applicable and operational,” read the document which FARPost has.

“In that, the order of Honourable Mr V Nieuwenhuizen AJ is automatically suspended, and the arbitration award stands and bidding.”

Young Bafana are supposed to play the second match of the day with Amavarara of the Eastern Cape at 13:00 at Harry Gwala Stadium.

However, given the latest of the case, the game is most likely to go ahead as planned. The legal battle has been ongoing for the past four weeks.

HOW THE DRAMA STARTED

The drama started when Young Bafana had secured the National Playoffs spot after their 1-0 win over Zizwe in the second leg.

So, the match ended with a 1-1 scoreline on aggregate. Just like Zizwe, who won the first leg with the same scoreline, which led to the penalty shootouts. Young Bafana were lucky enough to walk away victorious on penalties.

Thereafter, Zizwe went on to file a complaint. The side alleged that Young Bafana used a player from another team. This was in the Western Cape ABC Motsepe League playoffs five weeks ago.
