The Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court has postponed the fraud and corruption case against former arts and culture minister Zizi Kodwa and Jehan Mackay, the former CEO of technology company EOH, to 24 October.
Magistrate Phillip Venter stated on Thursday: “This matter is not stagnating. It is moving along at a reasonable pace. I am satisfied to grant a remand at a joint request until 24 October for the outcome of the representations by both parties.”
The pair’s R30,000 bail, set on 5 June, was extended under the same conditions.
Kodwa’s lawyer, Zola Majavu, said he might request separate trials if there are further delays.
“I have also made a representation to the Director of Public Prosecutions. Regardless of the outcomes of the submissions, we are ready,” he said.
Kodwa is accused of accepting over R1.6 million and enjoying luxury hotel meals in exchange for helping the EOH Group secure a tender.
