Zanele Potelwa is back at the helm of the hit reality series Tropika Island Of Treasure, returning as host for its highly anticipated 12th season.

The show, recently nominated in two categories at the 2026 South African Film and TV Awards, also earned Zanele a nod for Best TV Presenter for her previous season’s work.

Promising the franchise’s signature mix of adventure, challenges, and exotic locations, the new season is set to deliver fresh surprises for fans.

“Being back as host for Tropika Island Of Treasure is a dream come true. I am beside myself that I get to come back and host another season. I can tell you, without a shadow of a doubt, that this is going to be the biggest season yet,” Zanele said.

She added that viewers should prepare for unexpected twists, exciting celebrity contestants, and secret preparations behind the scenes that will make this season unforgettable.

“I don’t think anyone is ready for the surprises, the celebrity contestants, which island we might be going to and everything else we have done behind the scenes to make this season special. After being nominated for a Safta for the previous season, this announcement is a beautiful way to celebrate, and I cannot wait to be on that island.”

The star-studded lineup of celebrity contestants for season 12 is expected to be revealed later this week, with participants competing for the R1 million grand prize and a R10,000 voucher from Pep.

Fans can expect the same high-stakes excitement, jaw-dropping locations, and adventurous spirit that have made Tropika Island Of Treasure a staple of South African reality TV.
