Zandie Khumalo hits back at Advocate Teffo’s shocking accusations

Zandie Khumalo-Gumede has lashed out at Advocate Malesela Teffo following his latest claims about her involvement in the events surrounding the death of football star Senzo Meyiwa.

The controversial former legal representative, who once formed part of the defense team in the high-profile murder trial, made headlines again after appearing on Podcast and Chill with Mac G on 17 July 2025.

During the episode, Teffo pointed fingers at Zandie, her sister Kelly Khumalo, and Advocate George Baloyi, making allegations that reignited public interest in the case.

He claimed that in the days before Meyiwa’s murder, Zandie joined Kelly, Senzo, and one of his male friends on a trip that allegedly sparked tensions with her then-boyfriend, Longwe Twala.

Upon her return, Teffo alleged, a confrontation between Zandie and Longwe escalated into violence, with Longwe allegedly firing a shot that bruised her legs.

Teffo went as far as suggesting that a case of attempted murder was opened against Longwe at the time, and also mentioned an affidavit supposedly linked to him.

Zandie, however, has strongly dismissed the claims, saying she has no interest in entertaining what she described as attention-seeking behaviour.

“I didn’t watch the podcast and I have no intention of watching it. Teffo is a mad man, desperate for relevance. He clearly misses the attention and spotlight he got from being involved in the case, shame,” she said.

“Ngeke ngivumelane or ngiphikisane nohlanya. Uyahlanya loyamuntu, animuboni nina?” (“I can’t agree or argue with a mad man. Can’t you all see he’s lost it?”)

She went on to say that the advocate is not only a danger to others, but to himself as well.

Regarding the supposed affidavit by Longwe Twala, Zandie made it clear that she has no interest in whatever documentation Teffo was referring to.

“I don’t know about any affidavit from Longwe, nor do I want to know. This man is broke and desperate. If he needs help, he must just open a GoFundMe instead of dragging people into his nonsense.”

Senzo Meyiwa’s brother, Sifiso, confirmed that he had seen the interview but chose not to comment further.

Meanwhile, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) was approached for a response, particularly on the claims involving Advocate Baloyi. At the time of publishing, no official comment had been received.
