Zandie Khumalo, Kelly Khumalo’s sister, has made some shocking claims about the Senzo Meyiwa trial. The singer recently spoke with eNCA’s Silindelo Masikane, but before the interview, she took to Instagram to share another perspective on the trial.
Zandie shared the poster for her interview in a recent post, but it was her caption that drew our attention. Instead of her family being investigated by the public and the courts, she believes Senzo Meyiwa’s wife, Mandisa Mkhize, should be.
Zandie boldly stated that a married man dying at his girlfriend’s house while his wife is ignored is something that has never happened in this country.
“For the very first time in this country kushona umyeni ushonela [a married man dies] at a girlfriend’s house yet the wife has never even once been considered a suspect. Wake wayizwaphii leyonto??? [where have you ever heard of that] whether she did it or not the investigation will determine but naye akaphenywe [she must also be invesigated.]”
Zandie then shared posts from Tweeps agreeing with her.
In her interview, Zandie Khumalo explained how she tried to keep Senzo alive en route to the hospital. She started off by apologising to their neighbours from where the alleged robbery gone wrong happened.
“I want to apologize on behalf of my family, it was not opur intention. We didn’t plan for anything, but It just happen. I would not wish this to happen even on my worst enemy because it is an ongoing cloud that is forever hanging on your shoulders,” she said.
Zandie then said she tried to keep Senzo alive by talking to him and putting pressure on his wound. “I was the one sitting with Senzo at the back of the car, putting pressure on the wound leading to the hospital. Even on our way to the hospital I could feel him getting cold from his feet. I was busy talking to him all the way, trying to keep him alive.” she claimed.
The singer then added that she wishes she had done something like stabbing one of the alleged intruders so she can find out who hired them.
“When something happens of that magnitude, you forget everything. I even forgot the knife drawer, maybe I could’ve taken a knife and stabbed someone. Maybe if there was one left behind, one would have said something it would’ve been better. Things just go through your mind that I would’ve wanted to do so much.”
Addressing the claims that the crime scene was tampered with, Zandie Khumalo set the record straight, “When they say the crime scene was tempered with, I don’t know what they mean. First of all, our house was too small. The minute you have 5 people it’s a full house. By the time we returned from taking Senzo to the hospital the house was packed. Some of the people we knew and others we didn’t,” she said.
In closing Zandie said, “If a situation is facing you and if it will happen on that day there’s nothing you can do it will happen.”
