YouTuber Owamie reflects on ‘tough week’ after burying grandmother

Posted on February 26, 2026

Through her YouTube channel, Owamie Netshivhazwaulu has explained to her followers that her absence last week was because she was mourning the passing of her paternal grandmother, who was buried on Saturday, 21 February, in Venda.

OWAMIE ENDURED A CHALLENGING WEEK

After receiving the news of her grandmother’s passing, she realised that she wouldn’t be able to see her body at the mortuary, as per African custom, since a project sprang up during that week, and she could only travel to Venda on Friday for the funeral, which took place on Saturday.

Owamie shared fond memories of her grandmother with her followers. The 35-year-old remembered how her granny blessed her new car with a prayer.

Owamie, who divorced her husband in 2021, also mentioned that her father was present at the funeral, but they did not engage due to their strained relationship.

Despite this, Owamie focused on bidding farewell to her beloved grandmother. Another fond memory she shared was that her grandmother was outspoken, full of life, and often loved inquiring about her love life.
