Award-winning Nigerian singer Davido cries foul after Maphorisa shamed him over the Amapiano genre tussle. A wagging Twitter war between Nigerian award-winning musician Davido born David Adeleke and Scorpion Kings and South African celebrated producer and DJ Maphorisa has set social media ablaze. Their Twitter war came against the backdrop of who started the Amapiano genre that has since taken the world musical stage by storm.

In the wake of the viral tweets giving credit to Davido, DJ Maphorisa took it to Twitter to set the record straight. He made it clear that the movement started in Mzansi and before other countries joined the bandwagon. Several countries in Africa and Europe at large have since fussed Amapiano.

The two have been topping the trends and many have been wondering what gave birth to the argument that has since seen Davido and DJ Maphorisa exchanging words on Twitter. A random Twitter user triggered Maphorisa giving the Nigerian singer, Davido the credit for coming up with Amapiano and making it successful across the globe.

“Davido brought Amapiano from South Africa two years ago and made it a successful genre in Africa and Beyond, Wizkid is now hopping on the same genre after Davido made it a successful genre. This is how many African artists have been benefiting from Davido’s success for over 12yrs,” the tweep says.

Well, that didn’t go well with the celebrated South African producer who is credited for the birth of Amapiano. DJ Maphorisa rubbished the claims and revealed that Wizkid and Burna Boy were the first Nigerian artists to be on piano beat.

“Kabza & Maphorisa was the first to put Wizkid n Burnaboy on an amapiano song Sponono dat was a historical moment 3 years ago, research before tweet also it was the first time Wiz n Burna jumped on the same song together let it sink in,” Phori tweeted.

He further emphasised that the genre has no gatekeepers. However, it seems as if Phori was seemingly taking swipe at Davido who is Burna Boy and Wizkid’s bitter rival.

“Amapiano ke “With or without u” movement no gatekeepers let it sink in,” he added.

Davido was quick to respond to Maphorisa and took a swipe at him. The slay musician Davido slammed DJ Maphorisa and revealed that the record producer never liked him, asking him why.

Against the backdrop of his social media jabs, he went on to poke DJ with the success of his song with his South African counterpart, Focalistic, who has two monster amapiano hits with Davido. The DMW singer wrote:
