On Monday, the ANC denied owing the taxman more than R100 million.
The ruling party said in a statement that a report in the Daily Maverick claiming it had been given 10 days by the SA Revenue Service to settle the amount was untrue.

According to the article, Sars went to the high court in December to order the ANC to pay up. It further foes on to say, the court issued a civil judgment requiring the sheriff to seize assets worth R102,546,580.76 within 10 days. According to the Daily Maverick, it’s unclear whether the assets were seized by the sheriff in accordance with the ruling.
To erase the debts, the party said it had made financial agreements with Sars.
“The ANC will continue to pay all taxes and debts owed to Sars and certainly finds the allegations of tax evasion rendered against the movement abhorrent and irresponsible,” the party said.

The party was struggling to pay workers until just a few weeks ago, and was three months behind at one point.
The ANC had a payroll bill of more than R12 million at the time, according to TimesLIVE. It also had millions of dollars in provident fund debt, as well as ongoing PAYE tax debt and concealed medical aid and UIF obligations.
