Russia – A report reveals that Vladimir Putin’s two sons, Ivan, 9, and Vladimir Jr, 5, enjoy Disney characters, which irritates the Russian president and his wife. The boys are privately educated and rarely see their parents, Putin and former gymnast Alina Kabaeva. Putin has kept his relationship with Kabaeva and their sons hidden from the public since it started in 2008.
Nigeria – Suspected Boko Haram militants attacked a village in Yobe, northeastern Nigeria, killing at least 37 people. The attackers arrived on motorcycles, shot at people in a market, and set buildings on fire. The attack was reportedly in revenge for the killing of two Boko Haram fighters by local vigilantes. While officials have confirmed 37 deaths, villagers believe more people may have died, with many still missing. Some think the death toll could be over 100.
US – A Delta Airlines flight from Boston to Rome was forced to turn back to New York after a passenger had severe diarrhoea during the flight. The plane, an Airbus A330, landed at JFK Airport about an hour into the trip, and passengers were transferred to another flight. Delta said the change was due to a “customer medical issue” but did not give specific details. This caused a 20-hour delay.
US – A mass shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, has left two students and two teachers dead. The shooter, 14-year-old Colt Gray, was arrested and faces adult charges, including four counts of murder. Nine other people were injured.
