US – Vivian Jenna Wilson, Elon Musk’s transgender daughter, called her father a “serial adulterer” who was an absent father and cruel to her as a child for being queer and feminine. In an exclusive interview with NBC News, she criticised his character, mentioned his alleged affairs, and claimed he isn’t a family man or Christian. Vivian also accused Musk of racism and said he doesn’t care about climate change.

Ethiopia – A landslide in Ethiopia’s Wolaita area, caused by heavy rains, killed at least 13 people, with more deaths expected. Over 300 people were evacuated, and many are still missing. This follows another deadly landslide last month in southern Ethiopia. From July to mid-September, the rainy season often causes mudslides and floods.

US – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz made his first appearance as Kamala Harris’s vice-presidential pick at a rally in Philadelphia, speaking to over 10,000 people. Walz shared his background and political experience, emphasising his ability to compromise while maintaining his beliefs. He discussed his work in Minnesota on issues like abortion rights and family aid and stressed Democratic support for healthcare.

UK – Several countries, including Nigeria, Australia, and Indonesia, have warned their citizens about travelling to the UK due to anti-immigrant riots. The unrest began after false claims that an immigrant attacked and killed three young girls in Stockport, northwest England. The attacker was a British citizen whose parents came from Rwanda. Rioters have targeted hotels housing asylum seekers and clashed with police, leading to hundreds of arrests. Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a travel alert advising its citizens to be cautious and avoid crowded areas.
