In a surprising turn of events, a woman named Prudence Skhosana from Mpumalanga gave birth at a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurant during the breakfast hours on Wednesday.

This unexpected incident left both Skhosana and the KFC staff astonished.

She ordered breakfast at KFC – and, while waiting, her unborn son chose to arrive early.

“I experienced pain in my abdomen and felt the need to pee. I went to the toilet, my water broke, and I could feel that the baby was coming. I screamed for help because I did not know what to do,” she said.

Dorah Kotelo, a Station Manager for Emergency Medical Services, happened to be parked nearby and was called upon to assist the woman in labor inside the KFC outlet.

Kotelo, relying on her training, successfully delivered a healthy baby girl right inside the fried chicken restaurant. After the birth, she promptly transported Skhosana and the newborn to Philadelphia Hospital.

Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, the MEC of the Limpopo Department of Health, emphasized the importance of pregnant women being aware of their due dates and avoiding travel during crucial periods.

She also urged women not to delay seeking medical help when labor begins, as waiting too long can pose risks.

“Every pregnant woman is informed of their expectancy date and advised not to travel during those days. We are also advising that when labour pains start, let’s not wait until they are severe, by then, it might be too late,” the Limpopo Department of Health MEC, Dr Phophi Ramathuba was quoted as saying.
