Williams – We Want To Add Our Name On The Trophy

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams aims to win the Carling Black Label Cup.

It will be the first time in the history of the Carling Black Label Cup to see four teams participating in the one-day tournament as it used to be two teams from Soweto; Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs only.

This season’s edition, though, is a different and will see Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu FC, Pirates and Chiefs battling it out at the FNB Stadium for the R1 million prize money.

Sundowns shot-stopper Williams wants to win his first trophy with the yellow nation just four months after he joined the side from SuperSport United. The Bafana Bafana captain was the highest-voted player in the Sundowns team with more than 27 000 votes.

“Coming to the Carling Black Label we looking forward to it,” Williams told the media.

“We want to add our name to it. I’m looking at the trophy now for obvious reasons our name is not on there.

“So we want to add it because we are a big team and we want to associate ourselves with big trophies and for us, we want to win each and every trophy.”

Masandawana will face Usuthu on Saturday morning at 09:30 in the first semi-final of the day at FNB Stadium.

The second semi-final sees Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates battle it out for a place in the final that will kick off later on Saturday at 17:30.
