Why not gamble and keep Zwane on the job? Asks ex-Chiefs striker

Former Kaizer Chiefs forward Sibusiso ‘Spoko’ Dlamini believes it’s normal for his ex-club to face the slum that they are going through but insists they will turn the corner.

Chiefs fans appear to have lost patience with head coach Arthur Zwane following a poor start to the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

They are currently third from the bottom on the log standings after collecting just eight points from their opening seven matches.

They have scored the second least number of goals (3) alongside Marumo Gallants and Sekhukhune United. TS Galaxy has scored the least number of goals with three.

Speaking to FARPost in Mbabane, Eswatini, Dlamini says the lack of success that has seen the club go over eight years without a single trophy will soon come to an end if coach Zwane is given more time to rebuild.

“Obviously there are changes in football when you don’t change for the better you change for either middle class or the worse,” he said.

‘THEY ARE TRYING THEIR BEST’

“But they are getting there, they are picking themselves up. You can see they are trying something out of nothing. It’s just that football is a result-oriented sport.

“But I believe and I want to believe and edge anyone that we need patience on these things. You can’t build a team like Kaizer Chiefs, a big one, in just one season.

“You just need to give the guy a chance with his technical team,” explained Dlamini.

“Everything has its time. He has been with the team at the junior levels, he knows the team and the culture. So why not gamble [keep him on the job?].”

Dlamini who played for clubs such as Swallows, Black Leopards and Mpumalanga Black Aces during his time in SA has been involved in coaching since his return to his native country in 2011.
