As the race for the DStv Premiership promotion ticket heats up, two former PSL clubs appear destined for relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
In the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Polokwane City, Cape Town Spurs and Casric Stars are embroiled in an intriguing race for the Premiership promotion ticket.
Rules state that the two lowest-ranked teams in the second-tier league will be automatically relegated to the ABC Motsepe League.
And at this point, the two former Premiership clubs, Black Leopards and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [[TTM] looked poised to fall from grace.
The two ex-SA topflight clubs, Black Leopards and TTM, occupy 15th and 16th position respectively. Leopards are on 21 points, while TTM have accumulated 20 points after 26 games in the league.
They are six points behind the duo of MM Platinum, known as La Masia and Platinum City Rovers, who are above them.
TTM are winless in their last five matches having managed two defeats and suffered three defeats.
WHO THE RELEGATION CANDIDATES FACE
The next four rounds of fixtures will be decisive in sealing their fate. Black Leopards are on an upward trajectory after beating their Limpopo rivals, TTM, 2-0 in the most recent match.
They face Hungry Lions, Platinum City Rovers, All Stars and Venda. In the reverse fixtures, Black Leopards lost 1-0 at home against Hungry Lions.
The other three first leg matches against Platinum City Rovers, All Stars and Venda ended in draws. And they face the forth placed side, Hungry Lions on Saturday.
On the other hand, TTM will tackle Magesi, Hungry Lions, the University of Pretoria and Baroka.
TTM will be hoping for an improvement having picked four points out of a possible 12 in the first leg.
The former Premiership club drew 1-1 with Magesi, and they went on to beat Baroka 2-1.
They lost 3-0 at the hands of Hungry Lions and lost 2-1 again to University of Pretoria. As it stands, Black Leopards and TTM are swinging with the exit door.
