Mpho Padime is a new name on the lips of Orlando Pirates fans. With 16,800 Instagram followers, the teenage midfielder is turning heads.

The Diski Challenge midfield maestro is already training with the senior side.

New coach Roscoe Krieling already likes what he sees, so let’s learn a bit more.

Introducing Orlando Pirates’ new midfield maestro, Mpho Padime

Pirates Diski Challenge coach Roscoe Krieling replaced Joseph Makhanya at the start of the campaign, and his side sits atop the standings. Mpho Padime has stood out with his flair and skills. The teenager is now reportedly training with the senior side. ‘Mphopho’ has already garnered huge interest online, with his Instagram account already clocking 16,800 followers. Krieling has spoken of Padime as one of the most advanced midfielders of his generation, with elegance, maturity, tactical smartness and the ability to boss a game from central areas. Born in June 2007, the 18-year-old stands 179cm tall. As with any player this age, it’s not quite clear yet what his best position is, but the signs say that he’ll flourish as a deeper-lying midfield orchestrator.

Orland Pirates fixtures

The Sea Robbers are second in the league, three points adrift of leaders Sundowns. However, Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men have two games in hand. Their next test is a home match with Chippa on Saturday, 22 November at 15:30. Youngster Rele Mofokeng has 42 direct goal contributions after 102 outings for the Sea Robbers. Then it’s a trip to Durban City on Saturday, 29 November at 15:30. Their final Betway Prem outing of the calendar year is a home clash with Richards Bay on Tuesday, 2 December at 19:30. Sipho Mbule is the talk of the town after a pair of assists for Bafana in a friendly against Zambia. However, time will tell if the 27-year-old can deliver the goods in the final third in meaningful matches over the course of a season.
