Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Bernard Morrison has reportedly penned a two-year deal with Young Africans and is set to represent them in the Caf Champions League.
Simba SC, the club he joined on 14 August 2020, were eager to frustrate the player and not give him his release letter in time, which he needed to be registered for Champions League by their bitter rivals.
However, according to a FARPost source in Ghana, the player was cleared by the Tanzania Football Federation’s Legal and Player Status Committee to join any club of his choice.
“The decision was made because his contract bound him to the club until the last day of the season,” the source told FARPost.
Simba played a goalless draw on Wednesday against Mbeya Kwanza, finishing 13 points behind recently crowned champions Yanga. It effectively means their season ended on Wednesday, rendering his agreement with them obsolete.
Simba SC earlier confirmed that they had parted ways with the attacker, influenced by his numerous disciplinary issues.
The club recently revealed that the former Buccaneer had been suspended several times. The last time Morrison featured for Simba was during the draw with arch-rivals Yanga SC on April 30, 2022.
Morrison is expected to join the Tanzania champions when they start pre-season late next month.
