What the Gomora role of Mazet means to Siphesihle Ndaba and how she manages to nail it so perfectly

Siphesihle Ndaba ‘Mazet’ has grown to be a fan favourite on Gomora, and she has a lot to say about her role and, most notably, how she manages to perfect it. It’s been less than three years since Siphesihle joined Gomora as Mazet, but it feels like she has been on the small screen for many years. When Mazet joined, she joined a team of young talented stars like Buhle ‘Ama Qamata’ and Ntobeko Sishi ‘Ntokozo’. The young stars of Gomora impressed beyond expectations, and Mazet has since grown to be a key actor in Gomora.

In real life, Siphesihle is an indoor person who rarely goes out unless an important event comes. She graduated with her second degree in the past few days, and she had a blast. She celebrated with both family and Gomora family, and she had some time to show off her dance moves. After attaining such a significant milestone, Siphesihle spoke to Drum about how much she enjoys being Mazet and how she is managing. She also says of her future ambitions leaving Mzansi impressed with her focus.

What the Gomora role of Mazet means to Siphesihle Ndaba

Mazet is Mam Sonto’s right-hand township car highjacker who is fearless and doesn’t take a second to decide to do business. Describing her role as Mazet, Siphesihle said

Mazet is the Kasi girl next door; l know her. If you have ever been or lived in the township, you know of a Mazet. When we shot in Alexandra township, l met different types of people, and l met a girl who is a Mazet, street smart, pretty but also daring. So Mazet is a natural person.

Where does Siphesihle get the inspiration to nail the Mazet role on Gomora

Undoubtedly, Siphesihle is an educated young lady, which helps her reproduce the Mazet script perfectly, but she had other sources of inspiration.

l also took pieces from people around me. My uncles, my brothers and my aunts. l took parts of them, and l created this person from people l had access to.

Her Gomora role is the largest she has ever had, and she has a lot to speak of.

Working on Gomora has been a fantastic journey. It’s nice to be in a space that allows you to grow. l, learn something new everyday onset. More than anything, when l am in the studio, I grasp as much as l can and talk to as many people as l can; l become a sponge, go in there and learn.

In many film sets, you shoot and leave, but with us, there’s a lot of time to conversate and learn what l can fix and try to master. l sit and ask questions
