Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mandla Masango has shared his thoughts on the club’s current squad under coach Arthur Zwane.

Masango spent six seasons at Amakhosi between 2009 and 2015 before his move to Denmark side Rangers. He also spent some time at SuperSport United before he stopped playing professional football.

The 33-year-old has maintained that he is yet to retire from professional football despite featuring for Chiefs Legends of late.

MANDLA MASANGO’S THOUGHTS KAIZER CHIEFS

Speaking to the media earlier this week, Masango shared his impressions on how his former club has fared under coach Arthur Zwane.

Amakhosi finished the season in fifth position and failed to win a trophy, missing out on a Nedbank Cup final after a defeat by rivals Orlando Pirates. They also failed to qualify for CAF’s interclub competition.

With pressure continuing to mount on Zwane and the players, Masango insists there was progress in the team last season.

“I think there is a lot of improvement compared to other seasons. Slowly but surely they are integrating the new guys so with time everything will be back to normal,” he said.

ARTHUR ZWANE WILL GET IT RIGHT

“It’s just a matter of time. Remember most of the guys were playing for the junior side. So a step up to the senior team comes with a lot of pressure and responsibilities.

“I was also young and they groomed me to be what I am so it’s just a matter of giving them time to gel and eventually they will get it right.”

He remains positive that it’s only a matter of time before the fortunes change for the better at the club.

“I am positive [things will get better at Chiefs, I am always positive and we should support the guys. That’s what they need at the moment.

“Even in a family when you are young, you are allowed to make mistakes and they give you a chance to grow up to a place you want to be.”
