What Du Preez said upon leaving Kaizer Chiefs
Ashley Du Preez has written a heartfelt farewell message to Kaizer Chiefs after officially joining Stellenbosch FC.
The 29-year-old forward was unveiled by Stellenbosch on Tuesday. His return to Stellies was part of a player swap deal that saw Langelihle Phili join Amakhosi. Du Preez leaves Kaizer Chiefs after playing for them for four seasons, having joined from Stellenbosch in 2022.
Speaking on social media, Du Preez thanked everyone who was part of his journey at Naturena. “After four unforgettable years, it is time to close this chapter that has taught me so much in life,” Du Preez wrote. “Thank you to Kaizer Chiefs for believing in a boy with a dream and for giving me the opportunity to wear the jersey of the team I grew up supporting.”
He said playing for the club he loved since childhood was one of the greatest privileges of his life. “Thank you to all the coaches, teammates, staff, and everyone who worked behind the scenes. The lessons, challenges, victories, defeats, and memories have all helped me become a better player and person.”
He also praised the Chiefs fans for supporting him at all times. “To the fans, thank you for your love, your support, and for standing with me through good and bad times. Wearing this jersey and hearing your voices will always hold a special place in my heart. As I start a new chapter, I leave full of gratitude and pride for everything I gained at this club. Thank you to Kaizer Chiefs for four unforgettable years,” he continued.
Now that he has closed his Kaizer Chiefs chapter, Ashley Du Preez will look to excel once again at Stellenbosch.
