Banyana Banyana are without a win in their last three games and have conceded a total of 13 goals in the process with only a single goal scored. With that said, Desiree Ellis coach was seemingly highlighted the issue her troops need to work on.

Coach Ellis says the defeats are a result of Banyana’s mistakes.

And with the quality of players in the squad, the coach would be hoping to fix defensive and striking issue ahead of the World Cup.

In their most recent game played on Saturday in the United Kingdom, Banyana suffered a 4-1 defeat to Australia.

The mistakes out rightly led to the African champions to concede goals.

Desiree Ellis.

Before Australia tie, they lost two matches against Brazil at home with a humiliating aggregate score line of 9-0.

Ellis’ last win was back in July, 23rd as they defeated Morocco 2-1 in Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final to be crowned champions for the first time after many try outs.

After humiliating defeats to Brazil last month, Ellis urged her charges to minimize mistakes during matches.

However, it seems like the problem far from over following defeat to 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup co-hosts.

“I thought we did not start well and we conceded very early. We spoke about minimizing mistakes, but once again we conceded from a mistake,” Ellis told SAFA media.

“At times we were good on the ball, but we were not consistent. We played in patches and we were not tracking back, and we conceded again.”

Despite the 4-1 loss, Ellis revealed that she was however impressed by her team in general.

She praised the new players that were called to represent the national team as they continue their preparations for the World Cup.

“A lot of positives for us because I thought it was a better performance. We tested some new players that came and I thought they really raised their hands. That’s the big positive for us and we scored a goal,” Ellis added.
