We’ll be unstoppable, AmaZulu’s Zungu warns Pirates

AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu boldly declares they will be unstoppable in the MTN8 final when they face Orlando Pirates next Saturday.

This comes after the Durban side booted out Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 semi-finals last weekend to set up a final showdown with Pirates.

Zungu has always maintained that his mission is to deliver the first ever trophy for Usuthu, for the first time in three decades.

The last time they were in a final was in 2009/10 season, in the Nedbank Cup where they lost 3-0 to Bidvest Wits at Soccer City.

When he took over from the Sokhela family in October 2020, his first address was all about transforming the club to become title challengers. His words have not changed a bit since then.

ZUNGU, THE PROPHET

“As I said before, we will reach the final, and people asked am I a prophet now? “I said no, it is the way our players and coaching staff showed us hunger. So, who am I to not trust them?” Zungu told the media.

He said their preparations for the final were going well.

“They have been preparing very well for this tournament; we’re going to our first ever final for Usuthu since 2009.”

With another Soweto giant standing on their way to end the 30-year trophy drought, Zungu has sent a strong warning to Pirates.

AmaZulu have set their own Royal obligations to deliver the trophy to the newly crowned King Misuzulu KaZwelithini.

They also want to win it in honour of the last King Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu.
“I want to warn Orlando Pirates to prepare themselves well because, on the 5th of November, we will be unstoppable.

“It’s very important to play in the final. Last year when we lost King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, we finished second on the log and qualified for CAF Champions League.

“It will be written in the history books that the year of the coronation of King Misuzulu KaZwelithini, AmaZulu got crowned as MTN8 champions, on the 5th November, the history will be written.”

However, Usuthu have not won a match under new coach Romain Folz, who recently replaced Brandon Truter.

He will be hoping to get his first set of three points in their first match of honouring the new King against Stellenbosch at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.

The Stellenbosch match takes place a day after the King’s official coronation at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
