Sergeant Christopher Spies, a police spokesperson, stated that a minibus taxi was stopped. They stopped the taxi and searched it after a member of the group noticed that the Jungle Oats instant porridge boxes had been tampered with. Members discovered the mandrax tablets and tik stashed inside these boxes when they opened them.

“The find was linked to a passenger on board who was immediately arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs. Police confiscated the 304 mandrax tablets, 300 gram tik as well as an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be proceeds of the illicit drug trade.

“The 27-year-old suspect remains in police custody. She is expected to appear in the George Magistrates’ court on Friday, 18 March 2022 on the mentioned charge.”

According to spies, Western Cape police management praised the Rural Flying Squad members for their actions, which ensured that those who endanger society’s safety were brought to justice.
