Water to be affected in parts of Cape Town during pipeline repairs
[ad_1]
The City of Cape Town advised residents that several parts of the city will experience lower-than-usual water pressure due to urgent repairs being carried out on water pipelines this weekend.
Repair timelines and affected areas
The Cape Town Water and Sanitation Directorate will do urgent repairs on its 810mm diameter pipeline to the Newlands Reservoir from 8:00 on Friday until 8:00 on Sunday, 12 March.
The 1525mm diameter pipeline that runs along Langverwacht Road in Zevenzicht will be worked on from 18:00 on Friday until 6:00 on Sunday.
Mowbray, Rondebosch, Rosebank, Newlands, Claremont, Kenilworth and Wynberg residents may experience lower water pressure due to work on the Newlands pipeline.
Urgent call for water conservation
Residents in Kraaifontein and Zevenwacht are asked to “significantly reduce” their water consumption during the repair of the 1525mm diameter pipeline to help ensure the water supply from the reservoir is sustained during the repair period.
“Residents may also store water upfront in clean sealed containers for domestic use. The City will be monitoring the water supply to these areas and the reservoir levels closely.
“Every effort will be made to complete the repairs in the shortest possible timeframe. The City regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintain its water supply infrastructure network to benefit its consumers,” said the City of Cape Town.
