Watch Police Confirm Gun Used In The Murder Of AKA Has Been Found
Police have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the brutal murders of musician Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his long-time friend, celebrity chef Tebello Tibz Motsoane.
At an interministerial briefing on Wednesday, KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said the gun used to kill Forbes had been found and is in possession of the police.

“We have identified a couple of vehicles that were used. Some of the vehicles were used as getaways. Some were used as spotters. Some may have been used by people after the fact.
“We had identified at least one firearm that has been used and positively identified to have shot and killed Mr Forbes on that evening,” Mkhwanazi said during the briefing.
Police say they have identified the gun used to kill AKA, according to Commissioner Lt Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi police have also positively identified the getaway car used.

He said police were looking into a “few individuals” and would discuss with the National Prosecuting Authority about interviewing them soon. The news that the gun used to kill Forbes had been discovered first circulated in May.
The weapon was allegedly discovered in the possession of a man in his early twenties in Umlazi, south of Durban, and had been linked to the Forbes killing by ballistic testing.
However, police dismissed the claims at the time, calling them baseless and spiteful.
They have not stated where or when the gun was discovered.
On February 10, AKA and Motsoane were assassinated outside a prominent restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. Their murder was caught on CCTV and quickly went viral on social media, provoking horror and anger.
In the CCTV clip, AKA can be seen embracing a pal outside the venue seconds before the gunman arrived. The gunman then advances, gently approaching AKA and his friends. He looks over his shoulder down the road, wearing a white sweater and hat, and continues on his journey.

He raises his rifle unexpectedly and dashes towards AKA before shooting him at point-blank range. Also known as dying instantly. The gunman sprints away from the scene, across the road in the opposite direction he came from.
Forbes had just finished his dinner at Wish Restaurant and was getting ready to travel to Yugo, a Durban nightclub, where he would be performing as part of his birthday celebrations.
