The highly anticipated trial of the five men accused of murdering former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa resumed at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday, 2 May.
Senzo Meyiwa’s close friend who was present when he was shot, Mthokozisi Thwala is under cross-examination by legal representatives for the accused.

Meyiwa was shot dead on 26 October 2014 at the home of his girlfriend and singer Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus, Gauteng in an alleged botched robbery.
Five men are on trial for the murder of the soccer star, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli. They face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence and possession of ammunition. All five men pleaded not guilty.

Court proceedings normally start at 10:00 and adjourn at 11:15 for a tea break. They resume at 11:30 and adjourn again at 13:00 for lunch and resume at 14:00. However, due to unforeseen circumstances on a particular day there are delays and sometimes court adjourns for either tea or lunch earlier than the set times indicated above.
