Limpopo Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba in yet another viral video has told a Zimbabwean foreign national that she will send President Emmerson Mnangagwa a bill of all Zimbabweans receiving treatment in Limpopo.

Ramathuba, a Member of the Executive (MEC) of health for Limpopo Province, was recently recorded on camera telling a bedridden Zimbabwean patient that she won’t be discharged until she settles an outstanding bill and that she ought to receive medication in Zimbabwe.

She said foreigners were overburdening South Africa making it difficult to provide services to local people whom the funds were allocated for.

MEC Ramathuba was having a conversation with a pregnant Zimbabwean national who was attending her antenatal at Mokopane Hospital.

She further stated that the hospital must cost all the Zimbabwean foreign national who received treatment and send the bill to their president Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“For you, I must bill Mnangagwa. What is Mnangagwa doing? He’s doing nothing and Phophi Ramathuba is doing his job. Mnangagwa is out of order. He must do his work. I’m going to bill him.”

While answering parliamentary questions on Tuesday, President Cyril Ramaphosa has said that Limpopo Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba could have raised the issue of immigrants using South Africa’s healthcare services in another way.

“The MEC has raised an important issue that is currently under debate. Of course, she raised it in the presence of a patient, and I guess such an important issue could have been raised in another way,” Ramaphosa said.

It is reported that thousands of Zimbabweans are flocking into the country for medication treatment as well as employment opportunities as local hospitals in their country do not have access to basic health care resources.
