Kaizer Chiefs new signing Langelihle Phili has opened up after scoring his debut goal against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 21-year-old fired past Rownen Williams to give Amakhosi the opening goal at the FNB Stadium this past weekend. The match ended up 1-1 with both teams sharing points.

Having joined Chiefs from Stellenbosch, Phili has been impressive before netting his first goal in Amakhosi colours.

The attacker has shared his experience of scoring against Sundowns.

“Obviously, being at such a great football institution as Kaizer Chiefs you want to play in the big games, so being able to play and score against Mamelodi Sundowns, the African champions, was huge for me, as could be seen from my celebration,” he said on the club’s official website.

Phili on form for Kaizer Chiefs

Phili mentioned that his goal at Amakhosi was to win over the supporters.

“Still, my overriding aim is to help the team in any way possible. In order to maintain my form consistently I must just keep listening to the coach and the technical team, learning from my teammates and just keep trying hard every day to become a better version of myself.

“It’s the best feeling ever to be loved by supporters. When I arrived at the Club my priority was to earn the love of the fans. I’ll keep on trying to please them through maximum effort, which is something they appreciate,” he said.

Phili has been one of the best signings this transfer window and has transformed Chiefs’ attack.

How many goals will Phili score?
