Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala denies attack on his ex Tebogo Thobejane

Controversial Gauteng businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala has dismissed claims that he was behind the alleged assassination attempt on actress and influencer Tebogo Thobejane.

Speaking during his bail application at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court, Matlala revealed that he suffers from asthma and chronic tonsillitis, warning that his health condition makes imprisonment a potential death sentence.

“I ended the relationship during September 2021. There was no acrimony at the end of our relationship. I moved on with my life, and I got married to my current wife,” he stated in an affidavit.

The alleged hit on Thobejane took place in October 2023, but Matlala insists he had no involvement.

He further claimed that after the incident, Thobejane maintained contact with him from October 2023 until June 2024, asking for his assistance and protection given his ties to the security industry.

“As at the time of the alleged incident, I was no longer in an intimate relationship with the said victim. We have been cordial because we are not enemies and are civil towards one another,” Matlala added.
