Villager SA Entertainments Halts Spotify Release of New Single Due to Unauthorized Copying by “Laptop DJ”

Independent record label Villager SA Entertainments has officially frozen the Spotify distribution of their highly anticipated new track, “Dzhena ka Power (Trrrr Pha Pha)” featuring Mia Ndiwa and Cotsia Ndiwa.

In an urgent public address issued on October 18, 2026, the management revealed that copyright conflicts stemming from an unauthorized remix have left them with no option but to keep the track exclusive to YouTube for the foreseeable future.

According to the official statement, the dispute involves a “Laptop DJ” who allegedly appropriated their previous composition, titled “SBNO Dance.” The individual reportedly remixed the track and uploaded it to Spotify without obtaining prior authorization or legal clearance.

Because the newly produced single shares underlying melodic arrangements with the original work, automated platform policies and conflicting registry footprints have barred the rightful creators from publishing their own studio version. Label representatives noted that even alternative renditions, such as “SBNO 2.0,” continue to encounter distribution errors due to the metadata collision caused by the rogue upload.

Management confirmed they actively pursued amicable avenues to resolve the intellectual property dispute outside of court. However, after facing continued evasion and receiving what they described as “the runaround” from the party involved, the label is now moving to take strict legal actions to enforce immediate take-down orders.

While the imprint emphasised its appreciation for the creative energy DJs inject into the broader music ecosystem, they re-established a firm boundary regarding creators’ rights.

“Respect for the industry must also extend to the original creators and their work,” the statement noted. “We believe in mutual respect, proper communication and obtaining the necessary permission before distributing another person’s music.”

Apologising directly to their fan base for the streaming delay, Villager SA Entertainments asked supporters for patience as internal legal teams attempt to clear the digital pipeline.
