Despite the PSL transfer window being closed, there are several players available that could still be registered to play in the 2022/23 season.

Sibusiso Vilakazi who was released by TS Galaxy is still eligible to join a new club, having seen his contract terminated via mutual consent before the transfer deadline day.

This makes him available to be registered outside of the window and with the veteran midfielder training with Sekhukhune United, there’s reason to believe he may well be back on the pitch, sooner rather than later.

Ayanda Patosi is another player in the same boat after parting ways with Foolad in Iran, he’s been training with Cape Town City.

Richards Bay and Babina Noko, who have been actively looking for a traditional number 10, both opted not to sign him and it remains to be seen in the Citizens are up for a third stint.

Among the others are the likes of Lelethu Skelem and Phakamani Mahlambi, two players who appeared on a steady rise towards stardom in South African football – but find themselves mid-season without clubs.

With age on their side, it could be worth a punt for some DStv Premiership outfits, provided they can prove their fitness is up to the required standards to boost their options.

Only seven points separate fifth-placed Kaizer Chiefs and 15th-placed Maritzburg United and with the league this tight going into the final ten games, an additional option or two could be just the boost needed to finish the season off with aplomb.
