Banyana Banyana co-captain and JVW FC owner Janine Van Wyk is “pleased” with their collaboration with the Scottish side, Glasgow City.

This comes after City completed the acquisition of an 18-year-old JVW Academy midfielder Aliyaah Allie.

The South African teenage sensation penned her first professional contract with the Scottish club on Wednesday and she will don jersey number 20 at her new team.

The Banyana veteran defender took to socials to express her excitement about the good relationship between the two clubs.

“When a Diamond enters the City!!

“I am immensely proud of the collaboration between Glasgow City and JVW FC,” tweeted Van Wyk on her official Twitter account.

VAN WYK ON ALLIE MOVE…

“Wishing you all the best on your new journey with a club that I know will continue to develop and groom you to achieve all that you strive for in your career.”

Van Wyk previously had a stint with City, having joined them back in July 2020. After making one appearance in a UEFA Women’s Champions League match against VfL Wolfsburg, her SWPL debut was delayed for several months due to a combination of a knee injury and the suspension of the league during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, she returned back to South Africa in October last year to play for JVW in the Hollywoodbets Super League.

Meanwhile, the 35-year-old footballer recently returned back to Europe – this time around with the top Greece women’s football club Ergotoris.

“Looking forward to starting this new and exciting chapter that I believe would be yet another platform for me to continue to grow to become the best version of myself. Another challenge to improve, get better and continue to strive towards greatness,” she said.

The Greece team had stated Van Wyk made her choice to join the side in order to raise the bar even more, with her experience and mindset.
